Justice Divine – Self-Titled
Have you ever imagined what the vocals on Voice of a Generation would sound like on Second Empire Justice…but en français?
Justice Divine is the umpteenth offering from French punk stalwart, Lionel “Jacky” Cadiou. Known for his work in Syndrome 81, Fine Équipe, Coupe-Gorge, Prisonnier Du Temps, Mentalité 81, and Grisaille (to name a few), the songwriter composed the music for this project, recorded it at his studio At The Movies, and gets on the mic. Talk about a triple threat!
Justice Divine’s music conjures dreamy gothic landscapes reminiscent of classic bands like The Cure and Joy Division, as well as modern bands such as Academy Order, Chain Cult, and Spectres. A key feature that sets Justice Divine out from its contemporaries is Jacky’s shouted vocals, which provide a delightful contrast to the band’s dark melodies.
Have you ever imagined what the vocals on Blitz’s Voice of a Generation would sound like on Blitz’s Second Empire Justice…but en français? Well, your dreams just became reality on Justice Divine’s self-titled record. Don’t get me wrong, though. There’s beautiful, soft backups aplenty to support the angst of the lead vocals.
Containing seven tracks and clocking in at just over 22 minutes, Justice Devine’s debut offers something for everyone—the goths, the punks, the skins, the hardcore kids, and everybody in between. Don’t miss this one!
