All the way from Melbourne, Australia, comes Dead Already with seven short outbursts of politically charged hardcore punk.

The band formed in 2017, and “Gilded Age of Piss” (August, 2018) is their debut 7-inch, following a two-song demo released right before their first gig.

Musically, this falls somewhere between the Epitaph / Fat Wreck-ish sound and the classic 1980s American hardcore. Each song is thought provoking with an outspoken political attitude that reminds of bands ranging from Dead Kennedys to Propagandhi, with just enough melody and speed to keep things interesting throughout the whole record.

The lyrical content on “Gilded Age of Piss” tackles on topics like the role of technology in the rise of the far-right to Australia’s monstrous and ongoing policy of offshore detention of asylum seekers; from the daily struggles with anxiety to the manifestations of toxic masculinity. It’s just catchy and fun, but damn serious at the same time. The vocals are clear enough to actually hear the lyrics, and the Aussie accent really helps to put this over the top in my punk-rock book.

The band is currently working on their debut LP and planning a European tour in June 2019. Be sure to check these guys out!
