Released in October 2013 this is by far one of my most favorite DIY releases I’ve got to review. Force Quit is a four-piece political, mostly queer punk band based in three different cities—Toronto, Montreal and Philly.

Their debut seven-inch record features six incredibly intense and raging hardcore punk tracks mastered by Will Killingsworth (Orchid, Ampere, etc.) in the famous Dead Air Studios. The guitars are tuned low but there are no slow parts on here, the record seethes in relentless anger from start to finish and the longest track barely reaches the minute and a half mark.

The dissonant sound reminds me of bands like Reversal of Man, (Union of) Uranus, etc. The lyrics are well written and totally stand out to the music of Force Quit, carrying a body-positive, pro-choice and anti-authoritarian message. If you were stoked as me when the Paper Cage EP by Rape Revenge from Canada came out, then you should definitely check Force Quit’s seven-inch too. Hope the band is still going string and will write some new material in the future, despite members being scattered in three different cities. This is a solid political hardcore.
