Premiere: Cold Brats & Pakt Reveal Their New Split EP
Romania's Cold Brats and Slovenia's Pakt give us an early listen to their upcoming split 7-inch.
Bucharest, Romania’s punk outfit Cold Brats and Slovenia’s aural noise annihilation squad Pakt have teamed up to drop a disgustingly off-the-chain split seven-inch release in celebration of their punk friendship.
For the past two years, both bands have been channeling their energy into songwriting while trying to keep their wits untouched by the disaster that hit the entire world and whose name shall not be uttered.
The offering features two new rippers from Cold Brats—one of them, “Crybaby”, released exclusively for DIY Conspiracy Vol.2 compilation tape in 2021—and three psych-scouring raw punk d-beat blasts from Pakt.
Stream the split EP of Cold Brats and Pakt in full below, followed by a commentary from Cold Brats’ singer Paul.
Just when we thought we were out, they pulled us back in. People were dying before, now they are getting killed. We are foaming inside, waiting for it to end. I should say that ‘we are happy to announce’—which we really are but not entirely devoid of tension—that our release did actually… come out. We had some touring planned in 2020, it was obviously postponed or canceled.
Pakt are now like brothers to us and we are looking forward to touring with them. We are glad that they got to direct their anger and frustration into music so crushing, and we are also glad that we can share the limited terrain of the same EP. The same goes with our principles, the care for our close ones and ultimately for the time being, for anything that is to come…
The record comes in 250 slabs of vinyl by No Spirit (Germany), Smelly Cat Records (Italy), Crapoulet Records (France), Mad Schnauzer Records (Serbia), and Štrigon Records (Slovenia). Both sides of the split were mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios. Artwork and layout by Jaka Vatovec.
