Body Void/Keeper Split

Artist: Body Void / Keeper

Title: Split LP

Release: LP / Digital

Year: 2020

Label: Roman Numerals

Ah, finally some good old low-tuned, high-gain, brain-melting, ear-shattering drone doom for your thoroughly isolated, socially distanced and home-staying self. It sounds so fuckin’ relatable it should probably be illegal by now.

I will try to keep this one short, unlike the tracks on this split released in January by Roman Numerals label.

Body Void are absolutely massive sounding New England/Bay Area sludge doomers, and if you don’t like this kind of slow, ultra-heavy shit in the vein of Primitive Man, then we can’t be friends. Their side features the track “Androgyne”, which runs for 14-something brutal & cathartic minutes. If you want more, check out their crushing last year’s record as well.

Keeper hail from California and this is the first time I’m listening to them, and damn I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by their raw blend of blackened doom/crust infused metal. They have two lengthy tracks on their side, which run for almost 18 minutes. They can play slow, but they can also grind really mean. A real pleasure.

Both bands offer their own take at massive-sounding slow riff-based drone doom with screeching vocals in the vein of Khanate. If you like it slow and desperate—check this split out and order a copy or something. I know I will.
